About Me

I’m Em (they/them).

I’ve developed my practice to specifically support queer and allied folx navigating personal and relational challenges. As a queer, non-binary therapist with more than 15 years of clinical experience, I’ve worked in diverse settings, from inpatient psychiatric hospitals to intensive outpatient programs, and have run my own therapy practice for over a decade. I have both clinical and personal connections with the queer, gender-expansive, relationally open, and kinky communities, which I draw on to provide a safe space for all.

After earning my MSSW from the University of Texas at Austin, I then completed 3,000+ hours of specialized clinical training to earn my Licensed Clinical Social Worker status. I also completed a separate certification as a LCSW Supervisor in order to help new therapists earn their clinical licensure. After completing each of those steps, I then worked through an additional  200+ hours of training specifically in Sex Therapy. I am a member of the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists, which provides me ongoing education to further deepen my expertise in sex and relationship therapy. I utilize both my years of ongoing training as well as my years of clinical experience to help my clients find clarity, connection and sink deeper into self-acceptance.

It’s great to meet you.

I’m a native Austinite and have loved this city through many years of growing pains and transitions. While many things about this place have shifted, I still love the spots around town where I feel like I’m in a small city with laidback folx.

When I’m not working, I love connecting with friends and family over homemade meals, being a dog dad, renovating my home, hanging out in nature, discovering new experiences, and playing one of my instruments as a purely hobby musician.

Frequently Asked Questions

Starting therapy can feel intimidating, but I’m here to make the process as comfortable as possible. Below are answers to some common concerns to help you feel at ease.

  • Is therapy confidential?

Absolutely. Everything we discuss remains confidential, and your privacy is my priority.

  • Do I need to have a specific issue to start therapy?

Not at all. Therapy can be a space for exploring general self-awareness and growth, even if there’s no clear “problem” you’re trying to solve.

  • What if I’m unsure about talking about sex?

We move at your pace. Whether or not we talk about sex directly depends on your needs and comfort level.

  • How does payment work?

I am an out-of-network provider, but I can provide you with superbills for reimbursement through your insurance. This allows you to get partial reimbursement depending on your plan.
